| Isolation and analysis of epitope-tagged proteins |

Epitope tagging is a powerful, versatile, and extremely popular technique for detecting and purifying proteins expressed by cloned genes. The µMACS™ and MultiMACS™ Epitope Tag Isolation Kits are the first products that combines this attractive and simple method with all of the advantages of the MACS® Technology based on superparamagnetic beads.
The µMACS Epitope Tag Isolation Kits were developed for manual, low-throughput applications with the µMACS Separator. The procedure can easily be upscaled with the MultiMACS Epitope Tag Isolation Kits to a semi- or fully-automated, high-throughput processing of up to 96 samples in parallel by utilizing the MultiMACS 96 Separator.
Both kit formats are available for the isolation of proteins tagged with:
- c-myc - HA (hemagglutinin) - His (histidine-epitope) - GFP (green fluorescent protein) - GST (glutathione-S-transferase)
The main advantages of MACS Technology for protein isolation are:
Sensitivity - fast reaction kinetics of small, non-sedimenting µMACS MicroBeads allow sensitive isolation even when working with rare proteins. Specificity - high-quality monoclonal antibodies coupled to µMACS MicroBeads assure specific isolation of tagged proteins with low background. Speed - less than 2 hours to high-purity proteins.
This product line is supplemented by a number of monoclonal Anti-Tag Antibodies suitable for analysis of epitope-tagged proteins by immunoblotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, or immunofluorescence microscopy. |
